About Volunteer

CIEE is a volunteer organization. We came to Manyo park as volunteers from France, Russia, and Japan through this organization. In the work camp, we mainly prepare many events, clean facilities, and take care of insects and plants. All of us really enjoy doing such activities as volunteers because all of them are really wonderful experiences. We also learn many things through this project and thanks to all the staff of Manyo park, we have a lot of fun every day.

About US

Anne-Sophie BREANT(ANSO)

Bonjour,

Ayaka Murai

I’m Ayaka Murai. I’m nineteen years old. I’m from Nagano. I’m a university student in Saitama prefecture. And I’m the leader of the work camp.
The reason I joined the work camp is that I wanted to try something new and learn more about many things that I don’t know. I’m really glad that I was chosen as the leader and that I could do volunteer activities with Tomi and Anso.
I have been to Shimane before. I visited Shimane for sight seeing with my grand mother and grand father. It was when I was ten years old, in elementary school. At that time, we went to see the famous temple, Izumo Taisya.
Since I am an English student, improving my English skill is one of my purposes of the work camp. In the work camp, we always talk in Japanese. (Tomi and Anso are really good at Japanese!!!) I don’t have a chance to use English so much. I want to try to be able to explain everything in English if they can’t understand well in Japanese.
I have seen rich nature in my home town, Nagano. However, the nature in Shimane is much more wonderful than the one in Nagano. I already came to like Shimane very much despite I spent only a day yet. In Shimane, there are beautiful sea and a lot of trees. Everywhere I look, I can see wonderful nature.
I’m really looking forward to experience many volunteer activities since now. Through those experiences, I want to meet a lot of people and talk with them. I also want to think about what Japanese culture and customs are. And I want to know about that in other countries too. I’m going to do my best to introduce many good points of Masuda city in Shimane to many people!

Conclusion

ANSO

I think that I can say that this project was one of the best times of my life and that I was very happy during these two weeks. I am sure these memories will last a very long long time.
One of the reasons I chose this work camp was the possibility to improve my Japanese and my wish has been granted beyond my expectations.
I recommend to everyone interested in Japanese culture and language to come here as a volunteer or as a guest to enjoy the beauty of the region, the warmness of the Japanese people and the tasty food.
THANK YOU CIEE, MANYO PARK AND EVERYONE I HAD THE CHANCE TO ENCOUNTER !!!

TOMI

It was my first international volunteer camp. And I am happy that I got this opportunity. Every day I learned a lot of new information and was a great experience. I realized that Japan is a special world, not like the rest of the world. We had only three. I, girls from France and Japan – Anso and Ayaka. We spent an unforgettable two weeks!
Besides working for us are often guided tours in Masuda and neighboring cities – Izumo, Hiroshima. This trip allowed me to see Japan from the inside. How the Japanese live, work, communicate, we tried on yukata, helped cook Japanese cook, saw the sights and took part in several Japanese festivals. All this is a real Japan. We have become real friends. And I want to say “Thank you!” to the other volunteer and staffs of CIEE and Manyo Park!!!
I highly recommend to future volunteers to come to the Manyo Park!

Ayaka Murai

First, I want to say my appreciation to CIEE, and to all of Manyo Park’s staffs. Thanks to all of them, I could come as a volunteer to Shimane. I had never do volunteer works as a leader, so all the experiences I had in Shimane are precious and valuable.
During the work camp, I always laughed and I was very happy. Every work made me excited and motivated. During these two weeks, I really spent a wonderful time. I found a lot of wonderful points of Manyo Park, Masuda city and Shimane prefecture. Everyone I met was really kind, and the conversation with them was also really fun. I really appreciate all of them. During the work camp, I had the chance to communicate and play with the children who came to the maintenance center and to the events. I felt really happy when I was speaking with them. All children showed their cute smiles to me. I’m glad I got along with them.
And I also want to mention about our team. We became good friends, and there was a lot of fun around us every day. Thanks to Anso and Tomi, I could finish this work camp without problems. I also appreciate both of them.
No matter what happens, I’ll never forget this wonderful summer☺
THANK YOU CIEE, STAFFS OF MANYO PARK, ANSO, TOMI, AND ALL PEOPLE I MET!!!
